Have first-person shooters turned us into a nation of campers? You know, those guys who we loved to hate (but loved to be), that found a nice hiding spot with their sniper rifles and just sniped for the entire round, racking up kills faster than you?
Now your kid can be a %$#&@*% camper, too, with the Nerf N-Strike Longshot. It is, for all intents and purposes, a sniper rifle. For kids. Is there something wrong with this picture?
Nerf keeps the official description pretty tame:
This blaster is more than three feet long and can launch foam arrows up to 35 feet away! Aim with accuracy and precision using the targeting scope. Two quick-reload clips hold a total of 12 STREAMLINE DARTS. There’s even a fold-down bi-pod to help you steady your aim for important shots.
But can’t you just see your 10-year-old, flat on this stomach under the minivan, waiting for Billy to round the garage….”Headshot!” (gratuitous UT reference).
Intrigued? YouTube is flush with videos:
- This kid busts demonstrates the pump action by downing paper cups at the end of the hallway.
- The guys from Nerf Have did some testing where they apparently 100 feet of distance.
- This kid shoots the camera, and you can get a feel for the power it has behind it.
Additionally, there’s apparently a thriving mod community behind this thing. I saw claims of 135 feet of distance (almost half a football field) with stronger springs and removal of the air restrictor.
