Each week this holiday season seems to bring with it another milestone for the high-def disc formats. This week is no exception, with box office king Pixar debuting its very first Blu-ray titles, ‘Ratatouille,’ ‘Cars‘ and ‘The Pixar Short Film Collection.’
For Blu-ray early adopters, these three releases promise to be more than just great family fare. Produced entirely in the digital realm (and thus free of any of the imperfections that come with traditional film or video-based productions), CGI-animated flicks are known to make for ideal high-def demo material, offering up an unmatched level of clarity and color reproduction.
Just in case eye candy alone isn’t enough to impress, the ‘Ratatouille’ and ‘Cars’ Blu-ray releases are also poised to push the limits of what we’ve seen so far on the Blu-ray format in terms of interactivity. Among the features exclusive to the Blu-ray editions of each title, ‘Cars’ is set to include a “Car Finder” game that will allow viewers to search for over 200 models of cars hidden throughout the movie.
Suggested retail price for each of the three Pixar Blu-ray titles is 34.95 a piece.
