In August of last year, Dish Network announced their latest high definition DVR, the ViP722. This DVR has many of the same features and functions you'd find on a standard DVR, but takes them a step further.
The ViP722 is a dual-tuner DVR, meaning that you can record one channel while you watch another. Or if you're just recording, you can record two programs at the same time.

Microsoft is thinking warm thoughts this season and offering their Bluetooth 5000 mouse for Mac users. They've updated the packaging and drivers to work seamlessly with Macs and are offering an olive branch to Mac users by pricing this laser mouse at $49.95. After all, isn't the holiday season all about sharing SKUs?

The folks at
Canary Wireless captured the interest in 2004 of Wi-Fi spotters--folks trying to find scarcer Wi-Fi hotspots than exist today--with their first Digital Hotspotter. The handheld, battery-powered device went far beyond the other signal detectors of the day when it was introduced in Dec. 2004. The small LCD screen showed channel number, signal strength, network name, and security method, scrolling through the networks found in the area.

California-style high speed chases may one day be a relic of history. That's of course only if every car on the road somehow gets outfitted with OnStar, and everyone activates their cool new feature: Stolen Vehicle Slowdown. The concept is simple, really. If your car gets stolen, and you've activated the feature, calling the police will now have some very high-tech consequences.

If you've got a gift card burning a hole in your cargo pants and you're thinking about getting a DVR TV solution for your home network, I would probably pass on the Elgato HDHomeRun ($200). I had high hopes for this device, but I'm less than thrilled with the results.
It looks good on paper, awesome even. The HDHomeRun,
sold by Elgato for the Mac and by
SiliconDust for Windows and Linux, is a two-tuner TV/DVR box that can receive ATSC over-the-air digital TV and un-encrypted QAM cable signals.

As any self-respecting home theater enthusiast knows, the first thing you watch on a new piece of equipment can be akin to a religious experience, and each new video format seems to have its demo disc of choice. For DVD, it was 'The Matrix,' and although it's too soon to make a definitive call for the two high-def disc formats, the dual-format release of the shot-on-HD documentary series 'Planet Earth' certainly takes early claim to the title.

It looks like that totally wireless future we all dreamed about is here. These minuscule earbuds connect to Kleer-compatible music players — there aren't many yet, but hopefully more folks will begin using the technology — and receive music wirelessly. In fact, the earbuds aren't even tethered to each other. They're just hanging out.
These things will be available in the next few months, but you can start by picking up a Kleer-compatible MP3-player... if you can find one.
